Foothills at Issaquah

Starting in September of 2009 Issaquah middle schools will no longer offer women’s gymnastics, but they will offer women’s soccer. The Issaquah School District conducted due diligence by interviewing teachers, coaches, administrators and of course their insurance company.

Gymnastics is a very expensive sport to support, but the decision did not entirely hinge upon money. Declining participation was a key factor as well. On a positive note the middle schools will now offer women’s soccer!

There is significant participation interest in women’s soccer and the sport is much more cost sensitive.
